lauribob's Plant List: Vegetables

A note from lauribob
I am not interested in selling or trading live plants. I do save seeds once in awhile and would be willing to trade those.

Vegetables
60-80 days. Hybrid.
Supposed to be a pale yellow/ivory color.
2021: Planted 1 purchased start. Mine never made it past green. We got a few thin-walled, small green peppers off this plant. I think I'm done growing bell peppers. They never amount to much and they're so cheap and good in the store right now.

Fajitas!!

2021: 2 plants from seed. We've got tons of jalapenos this year! Nice big plump ones.

Vegetables
59-79 days. (green to red) Hybrid
2022: 4 plants from starts. Planted out from GH June 6, NW end. These are doing pretty well! I picked my first small, green pepper on July 7. It had nice walls for a small one, and was quite tasty. This one did the best of any of the bells. None had any size to them though.

Bell Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'King of the North')

Will
Vegetables
60 days Green, 70-80 Red. OP
These are supposed to be bred to turn red in a northern, short-season climate.
2021: 1 tiny plant from seed - I bought a start instead. These did turn red earlier than any others, but they didn't have any size to them. None of the bells did this year.
2019: I've got one plant from 2018 seed.
2018: A few plants from seed. The peppers were unimpressive this year.

70 days. Heirloom. SHU: 30K-50K Hot
Pinetree seeds sells as Cayenne-Long. Supposed to be 6" long, ours average around 3".
2020: Good germination, I only kept one plant. It produced enough to keep us in cayennes for a couple years. They're dried in a jar.

Hot Banana Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Mexican Sunset')

Vegetables
62 days. Hybrid. SHU: 9-10K
Supposed to be sunset colors of yellow, orange, red. Like most wax peppers...
2021: 1 plant from seed. I didn't even plant it apparently. Must have been too small to bother with.

Vegetables this year
75-80 days. OP. SHU: 2,500-3,000.
An anaheim with a little kick, like a mild jalapeno. Supposed to get really big and be perfect for chile rellenos.

2023: 2 plants from seed. Planted out really late, NE end.
2018: We had one plant of these - a purchased start. We lost the tags and didn't know what it was until I found the map after we had picked everything. We put them in our salsa. I think I'll try them again from seed.

Green to orange bell.
I've had pretty good luck with these in the past - one of the bigger, thicker walled ones for me. Nice yellow to orange colors.

2018: From seed. These did the best of the bells.
2017: These didn't get real big, but they had decent walls and tasted good.

Vegetables
Vegetables this year
80 days. Heirloom. SHU: 1K - 1500 Also sold as 'Ancho'. These are the best for rellenos. I think I do much better if I can find starts. Trouble is, you can't find them for sale until May and I'd like to have them getting big in the greenhouse earlier. Sometimes I can find them in a gallon pot and they really do well then.

2023: 3 plants from seed. SE end.
2021: Ended up with 6 plants in the garden. A mixture of purchased starts and some from seed, I think most of them were the ones I bought as starts because they were larger. At any rate, I ended up with a ton of poblanos, but they weren't very big. We made some good rellenos out of them!
2020: 3 plants from seed. They did OK.
2019: 2 plants from seed. Did OK.
2018: 2 purchased plants. We got quite a few peppers this year.

Hot Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Red Hot Cherry')

Will
Vegetables
77 days. Heirloom. SHU: 2500-5K
2" round red pepper for pickling. Not too hot. I like them best as refrigerator pickles to keep them crisp. Greg doesn't like them.
2021: Planted 1 plant from old seed. It's got some peppers, but not enough to pickle yet, so I threw them in the salsa.
2018. I planted one plant this year and it produced enough attractive red cherry peppers to pickle up in 2 pint jars. I just did them in the frig instead of canning. Greg thinks they're too sweet. I like them.

Cayenne Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Red Rocket')

A kind of tapered, as opposed to blocky sweet pepper.
2020: I got 2 plants from last year's seed. They did OK.
2019: I'm trying these this year for sweet peppers since my bells are hit and miss. Yellow to orange large sweet pepper with thick walls. We'll see...

2018: Bought starts and they had a lot of small peppers.
