Some of my seeds are taking much longer to ever sprout, as there isn't nearly as many sunny days, as is much more usual, & typical than it is to be cloudy. It's trying to come out now, while it will still get rather cold for down here.
I may just need to pot up a few "cool season" growers...Before the seed starting mix, just might freeze up tonight !
Cool trick Joseph, with changing the number of light hours exposure, causing them to go into Flowering mode so much earlier than is typical as I can so easily see the results !
Might try it myself.
I'm off to go work on startin ' some 'Canary Creeper' seeds, right quickly already, today!
Yes give the seedlings total darkness for 13 hours after they have one leaf above the cotyledons. Do it for 4 consecutive nights. Then it's ok to stop the treatment.
Thanks - I learned it from reading a report online from a Japanese person. Sadly I don't remember who it was or where online it may be found. I can attest that it works with Ipomoea nil. Presumably it would work with other Ipomoea annuals.
I transplanted one set of young Japanese morning glories in their final growing container. I will install a trellis once the vines extend some more. It should have big blue flowers.
You've quite some "head start" on me Joseph !
I've been working on starting so many other kinds of seedlings, & plus going through just which seeds I've got.
While those "Canary Creeper' seeds have just began to absorb water, after rinsing under rather hot water, for at least several times. (I'd best, stop using that method anymore, now !)
I can't even get most of mine past the sprouting stage because the felines keep uprooting them when I'm not looking. Only these few are growing true leaves-
I was sorting seeds the other day and this mystery seed got loose so I stuck it in the pot with the mystery MG.
My canary climber is about a foot tall now. I'm thinking of moving it soon to my sunny south window where it can climb around.
Mother of millions is trying to escape the window!
Joseph, did you previously provide a link, to just where you'd once obtain those round, clip on, once before ?
If not, do you know where they can still be ordered from ?
Thanks.

I found some on Amazon. I bought these but haven't used them yet.

The cats broke my canary climber in half last night.
As for germinating, I just soaked the seeds maybe 48 hours before potting them up. That's it. Guess I'll be soaking some more. I thought my plants were dying and now I realize it's just the felines! Ugh!
