Salvia microphylla 'Royal Bumble' is an elegant red, which I wish could be produced by morning glories, my other plant passion.

Salvia rubescens subspecies dolichothrix

The hummingbird seems to prefer Salvia coccinea.

I have to retract my observation about the hummingbirds feeding behavior. I witnessed a hummingbird feed from the Salvia rubescens for a very long time. There must be yummy nectar in the flowers!

Here are photos of my little treasures.

Salvia splendens

It is an amazing red, one to cherish for sure. I was able to overwinter it indoors. I'm glad I did.

I couldn't pass on some new intros this season that appeared in a local garden center. Salvia 'Skyscraper' series pink, purple and orange, one of each! I up potted them to 15" containers.

@FBTS offers them and says they will bloom bountifully in the shade! Mine get morning sun and so far holding their own heat and water wise.

I'm a zone 7b but not sure about over wintering

Still holding their own and gloriouskie! A real humming bird found them! Which is pretty unusual since hummers nectar plants and/or feeders are scarce as hens teeth right around here.

Royal Bumble really fits in a cottage container garden setting.

Pretty good. Thank you for asking Joseph. It's been too hot and/or humid to take any pics. Hopefully, in the fall.
