Very pretty banner Jean.

I have a big clump of them, and they are one of my favorites....tough, and dependable.
Always thought they were Dutch Iris, but are wild African iris, right?

Beautiful. I had to do a database search to see what Dietes was. Is this the pic you made your banner with?

From your banner, they look delicate, and yet you say they are "tough" and "dependable". Sounds like a good motto. The banner is delicate and interesting, and you are the dependable one on the banner forum, Jean. 🏆 🏆 🏆 🏆 🏆 Love it!

I'm going to give some bearded iris a try here in the NW Panhandle of FL this year and see how they'll perform. If not, those Cape Iris may be the ticket.

Thank you for the beautiful Banner, Jean. It made me look up a photo I took in the Kula Botanical Garden in Maui in 2015. It was identified as the Fairy or Butterfly Iris (Dietes grandiflora).

I've just entered it into the Database, and was impressed by the first comment below the entries, showing photos of Dietes grandiflora and Dietes iridioides, side by side, showing the difference between them. It is the brown markings on the inner tepals of the Dietes grandiflora, that distinguishes it.

@Marilyn The picture in the data base was taken in 2012, the one in the banner is one I took this year.
