All Things Considered. Pretty, but not a vigorous grower. I think I'm going to cull it.

Fashion Event This is a new-to-me iris. It has it all, strong stem, beautiful branching, big blooms. I couldn't get a photo to do it justice.

Went to see a relative yesterday and snapped this clump photo of a real survivor iris. I gave them a single rhizome I don't know how many years ago. No idea of the cultivar, and suspect it's an oldie. Didn't bring any of it along when I moved to town because it claims a big area for itself.

Only new variety to open today was Sapphire Hills.

I line up on the side that doesn't really care to show. A big part of the reason that I've never sought membership in any of the local clubs, because it's expected. Got my fill of it when the kids were in 4H. Daughter liked to do flower arrangements in open class, and was good at it. She was a child, mind you. It didn't sit well with the old gals in the garden club that ran the local show when she started winning too much, so they changed the rules to make her ineligible to compete. Thought that was so petty!

Club members can be wonderful or very petty! Sorry you and your daughter had to experience that. I am trying to encourage gardening for young people. My clubs are all aging, the members of the hosta, daylily and iris all average about 60. We support a scholarship, gift a youth with a free plant, invite them to your garden. Show them how to hybridize etc.

Oh, Teresa, I didn't mean to insult clubs. I know that there are wonderful ones that encourage youth. When I belonged to my last club, I stuck with doing educational exhibits because those were not competitive. The club and its members were wonderful, and I loved the perks of being able to group share supply purchases to save shipping, plant raffles, and the community. Just not the shows:)

That pink clump looks a lot like Romance, it's a good grower, check it out in the data base. Smiling

Love Cinnamon Girl, Jeanne!

I wish I'd kept better track years ago of my iris. Thinking I must have two different pinks...it sort of rings a bell that I bought another cultivar after I had Beverly Sills. Pinks have shown up in 3 places, with 2 of those being in the same microclimate. One clump is a deeper pink than the other, and is taller.

Had an outlier on the Breck's NOID today. The stalk was so short that I had to cut it to take a picture. It measured 9 inches across, whereas the typical blooms are 5 to 6 inches. Confused

Was disappointed to see bud blast on several clumps that haven't bloomed yet. It was almost 90 degrees yesterday, and will be again today. Hope the rest of the unopened buds hang in there, as cooler temps are on the horizon!

@hawkeye_daddy Love your blooms. Lovey dubby I really hope you're right on the cooler temps on the horizon. It is getting hot out but I best get out there and get something done. Whistling
