@Johannian . Most birds do not have a powerfull gizzard to grind the thick outer coat of irises ( or peonies). They pass through unharmed. Later they are dropped somewhere. A thrush type of bird , perhaps a robin, could easily be the vector. If your siberian has grown inside a forest, one should look at forest dwellers as first culprits. The Turdidae family are quite omnivorous and feed earthworms, caterpillars but all sorts of fruits

Here my berried Cotoneaster are spread through out my property by our local thrush Turdus falcklandii ssp. magellanicus.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
We've got zillions of seedlings under the branches where they fly into cover. Actually getting to germinate any Cotoneaster by other ways is quite difficult but the birds have the trick to it. It is a charcteristic co-evolutionary method of fruit/seed dispersal: zoochory. For further reading which will explain gradually mysteries of your new home property:

So all my multiples are now naturally being done. Smiling

Are you sure it's not Species Iris (Iris missouriensis) ? It's fairly common in the Black Hills.

I enjoyed the bird photos, Arturo. & especially liked the songs. Robins built a nest in our small barn one yr. Right now is trying to clear our lawn of earthworms. They are very busy.

As I recall, 'Caesar's Brother' (from many years ago, as in decades...) it was a very dark blue, color...

I'd tried to hurry up, (after having watered,) only for a sudden Thunderstorm to nearly "pop up" out of nowhere ! (Of course, from the skies above...)
I'd taken an image, rather very quickly, as the humidity was nearly unbearable at the moment.
(This one, just doesn't want to appear, nearly as blue, as it really is, compared to when you see it.)

This is another one, (& still don't know the correct cv. name, for certain, of either one!)

Yeah, now I do sorta miss having that 'Lion King,' afterall.

There are so many siberians now than Ceasar's Brother, that it's not worthwhile to peruse it.

Frank, it's a nice blue, which contrasts nicely, as you've shown.
It grows fairly easily with some additional watering, in warmer Zones.

Yes Lucy, nowadays there are so very many ! (While I think they've managed to cross, some quite unusual hybrids, (& even using the pseudata to create some very unusual ones, too.)

Definitely looks similar, Kent. I'd have to see another bloom. I went out today to look at it again, but unfortunately it had already shriveled up. I see a lot of other plants around it though, so I'll most likely be seeing more blooms soon. I'll get a picture when they do.

Thank You! Leslie, I've got ten pots with sibs that I started from seed purchased via Jelitto.. Its a mix of Noids ( I never mind noids when I start anything new).I moved these pots inside my cool greenhouse after a fortnight of hard frost. They have had enough extra cold. Now inside with barely 30ºF at night, when days get longer ( very soon... nodding ) I hope they will timidly show their new foliage. They are three season old. None has bloomed for me yet, but they all have increased into multiple basal stalks. The same goes for my ensatas. Although in the growing season they are treated differently, the latter spending their bottoms in standing water, in winter it was suggested to me to keep them away from freezing ground and on the drier side. So they've been placed also in the cool greenhouse.
As I watch all those fabulous blooms, I start to get the spring itch, in spite of being still months away! Hilarious!
