Hey Ya Jimbo! Mingles? is looking ready for a bit more sunshine I see! We are batting down the frost covers and preparing to see if 2" of snow will actually make it this far into Houston. Just thinking of it is stiffening my bones, chuckl

My arthritis is really bad right now. It always is right before the bad weather hits. Then when it actually starts raining, sleeting, snowing, etc, I feel better.
With ice coming, then extremely low temps, followed by snow Monday, my hands are all knotted up and very painful. I will be covering my mints ( they're in pots) with fleece blankets on Saturday, I've never covered them before. The low temps to continue through possibly Wednesday night now.
Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.

Being out of pocket makes the freeze more frustrating here. I won't expect friends to do more than tend to my pets.
The herbs and veggies in ground need to man up. Herbs outside are rosemary, comfrey, dill, lemon thyme, oregano, marjoram, bay. Most should be all right.

Oh, Kim, SD is no fun when you cannot escape those flat winds and crispy snows.
Well, I cannot say I have never covered stuff, but some of it was simply a wind block type cover. Rain continues, drizzled all day and my rainwater for the seeds is now fresh. I quit misting, used a frisbee to set the pots in and bottom watering long and slow to pull the roots down. I haven't used the heating pad, but did set my seed pots on wood to keep them warmer. Tomorrow I can seed a few more peppers, and I am ready. A lady at Lowes yesterday was checking out the vegetable plants, said she had just put herself up a greenhouse, and her brother called her and told her she better go pick up plants NOW. She wondered what would happen to all those vegetables and herbs, so I told her they don't cover, if the plants freeze the vendor will be back to pick up the frozen ones and replace with new ones. She thought that was sad.
Temp is 35* feels like 33* tonight. Still getting showers til 11 pm. 12 mph wind from north. I am cold, but it is the wind that bites.
