This agave and the one in the following picture

do not appear to be A. parryi truncata, rather (perhaps) "Kichijokan", example here:

Please let me know if you have more info about this plant, otherwise I would like to propose moving it to the entry for "Kichijokan" or the genus entry for agave, whichever fits the plant best.

Thank You!

The only information I qualified the plant's id was from the tag posted at the Chicago Botanical Gardens, Garfield Conservatory where I took a series of photos. Unfortunately I do not have the "top" view as you've shown so we could compare. But, I am attaching the photos of the tag and the full view. Thank you for giving this issue your attention. Whatever you deem correct, please do not hesitate to follow through. You are the expert in this category. I do see the definite difference in the sharp tips vs. the signage tips being more stunted.

Thanks for the quick response. Smiling

The overall form of the plant does not seem to be a match for Kichijokan (though I suppose it might look different indoors). The thing that suggests it's not parryi truncata to me, though, is the margins of the leaves, which are mammillate, instead of straight or nearly straight, like this:

I think maybe the best place for these images would be the genus listing for Agave, unless @mcvansoest has any better suggestions.

I am convinced it is not a form of Agave parryi, as you say those really do not come with any strong mammillate margin features at all. I threw out kichijokan since it looks like it a lot more than it looks like Agave parryi, but even for those plants it would appear to be a little too mammillate.

Actually if I look at some of the pictures here:

http://www.agaveville.org/view...

Some appear to have pretty mammillate margins...
It is what it is!

Yes, Kichijokan is a fairly close but inexact match in that respect.

I do not see the artichoke form in Fleur's pictures, which is why I hesitate to move them to Kichijokan. I'll move them to Agave (since that much is certain) and call it a day. Thank you both and we can move the images again whenever necessary. Smiling

The lack of that form is probably due to light and growing conditions, but putting them in the general entry is fine with me.

Hurray! They are Beautiful Agave's. Color, form and texture would add interesting design elements for a table top display bundled with several other varieties. Lovey dubby
