It looks healthy Nathaniel, so I don't think it is getting to much sun. The other semps in your above photo also look healthy. You may find the color will change after it really settles into the new surroundings. It will be interesting to see what the offsets look like when the start up.

This is so interesting! Here is a container of gold nugget, potted a couple of months ago, from Mountain Crest Gardens. It's in mostly shade and is the most beautiful neon green!

The mother plant of my Gold Nugget died. I think it was because of too much sun, and then it got showered on. Last summer, it was doing well in the same pot and same location.

Can anyone suggest any other reasons?

Fortunately, it produced some new plants.

Should I have them in a semi-shade area?

Still learning....

Thanks!

Hi Charlinex.
I don't remember where you live?
What has your daytime temps been like?
Are the young plants doing well?
When did you start to notice the decline of the mature rosette? Did it bloom?

Lynn, thanks for the reply.

I live in Toronto, Canada. The day temperature has been around 90 F in the past few weeks. The night temperature around 68.

Should I water them in the summer? The plants are in a potting mix with good drainage in a clay pot.

Two of the young plants are ok. Will upload a photo later. The mother plant never bloomed before it became rotten.

Okay, next question. What are your night time temps like right now?
You don't want them to become desicated, so watering early in the morning when it is cool should be okay. Filtered sunlight might be good until the temps come back into the low to mid 80's. Only water if they need it, you don't want to keep them wet all the time.
I hope this was helpful and they do well for you.

Charlinex it is good to hear that the offsets are doing okay. Keep us posted.

Melissa, nice colony going on with your lemon nugget. And the blooming nugget colony looks lovely with the blooming rosette's colors. Lovey dubby

I haven't looked at mine lately. Of course I don't have any colonies here in Oregon City yet.

I was checking Gold Nugget today and I see it is starting to get ready for it's winter show.

The very tips of the leaves are starting to turn pink. I will take pictures.

I love the coloring when there is just a bit of yellow in the green.

Nathaniel, thanks!

Because they are relatively small, they have been in semi shade since the summer. Should I give them more sun in the winter?
