lauribob's Plant List: Tender/Annuals

A note from lauribob
I am not interested in selling or trading live plants. I do save seeds once in awhile and would be willing to trade those.

FS, average-dry, 3-4', summer-early fall. Ha! I call this Angels Trumpet.
2014: I'm not sure what cultivar these were, I do know I had the seed saved and marked 'White'. One year I let them all go to seed early and the plant was squatty. The next year I picked the pods off and it got almost 5' tall in a pot. It was like a tree.

Tender/Annuals
FS-PS, average-dry, 4-6', summer-fall. I grow these most years in a pot. They're very easy to start from seed and get quite big in a summer. They can be saved by overwintering as a houseplant, but sometimes tend to get white flies when inside. They don't seem to be as fancy when I use saved seed, but still usually have some purple swirling around in there somewhere.
2021: Got 3 from seed and put the all in one big pot. They were crowded but flowered profusely.
2020: These were unimpressive this year. Short plants, small flowers. I threw an extra one out in the veggie garden for the heck of it and surprisingly, it didn't amount to much of anything. I thought it would get really big.
2017: Did well in a pot on the back porch.
2014: Not too many blooms this year for some reason. I started from saved seed.
2012: These were nice!
2011: I love these.
2009: These were fun and quite striking.

Rocks
Tender/Annuals
2022: A buttload from seed. Put most of them in the rocks and stuck a few in the GH around one of the barrels.
2021: 4 tiny plants from seed. Very slow to get any size to them so far. Planted - E of water middle by pink crawler, in front of the water in the flat area, behind the water, not sure.
I don't actually expect these to make it through the winter. It's rare for me.

2019 I picked up one of these to go in the center of a pot. Wow! This did really well and was much more striking than the plain green ones. I will look for these again.

2023: I got 3 or 4 up from seed, but they just didn't thrive. I put one tiny one out by the garage door, but I don't have high hopes for it. I have no idea if it was even alive later.

Water
I throw these in the barrels every year. I like to have some floaters in there.
2022: This year I only got 3 plants for more $ than I used to get 5 for! They aren't the greatest looking things either, but I'm sure they'll perk up once they're outside. The weather sucks this spring and they didn't get moved out until June.

Overwintered this successfully for a couple years. Didn't make it through the winter with no water whatsoever. I might have left it in the greenhouse. I would get another one.

Part/dappled shade, moist, 8-12".
2022: Bought as a plant marked "Fuchsia upright Blacky" Not sure if this is the same cultivar for sure or not. Skagit Gardens has no additional info. It's in a pot. Update: Definitely not an upright variety. Not that attractive sprawling all over the porch steps. I'm not impressed with Skagit Gardens this year for a number of reasons. I wish one of the local sources for me would find someone else as a supplier. They all buy the exact same plants every year.

Lady's Eardrops (Fuchsia Marbeller™ Magenta Purple)

2023: Once again I was unable to find the upright fuchsias that I prefer. I bought a start of this and another variety and planted them both in the iron basket. I hope I can get them to trail up and down. They were kind of unkempt in a pot on the stairs.

Part/dappled shade, moist, 2-3' summer-fall. Feed frequently for best bloom. I love these upright fuchsias. I did manage to overwinter once in the pumphouse.
2021: Found one at Fred Meyers when we were in Spokane. I wish someone around here would have these - I really like them and so do the hummingbirds.
2018: Ditto
2009: In a pot on the front porch. Did well.

FS-PS, likes moist soil, 10' vine, spring.
Had this for several years. I kind of liked it when we were home, as it is a winter-blooming flower for me. It smelled great as a houseplant. With no one to care for our plants in the winter, it died. I won't replace it since it's kind of an untidy plant to grow in a pot in the summer months.

2020: Planted these in random places. They are gorgeous!
