From N.S. UK 2022 Incredibly beautiful mix of ornamental kales. Plants grows up to 60cm (23in.) tall. Mix represents all colors of these kales white, cream, pink, purple and green as well as all shades of these colors. Light-loving and very cold-resistant, can withstand up to -10 °C (14 °F). Excellent for containers. Sow directly in cell packs 4-6 weeks before planting outside. Cover seed with 1/4" of soil. After germination, grow seedlings at 60°F (21°C) for 3-4 weeks. Harden off one week before planting outside. Plants must be set out several weeks before the first fall frost. Direct seed: Sow 3 months before expected fall frost, 2 seeds per hole, 6" apart and 1/4" deep. Thin to one plant per hole. |

Native to Europe, western and central Asia, north-western Africa, Morocco, Iberia, and the British Isles, north to northern Scandinavia,[2] and east to northern Pakistan and Xinjiang in western China. Garlic mustard greens are high in Vitamin A and Vitamin C as well as trace minerals, chlorophyll, and enzymes. The roots taste like horseradish and can be pickled or used in soups as a root vegetable. The seeds when ground makes a fabulous mustard sauce and the dried greens can be made into a paste like wasabi. Young first-year garlic mustard plants contain up to 100ppm cyanide, a level that is toxic to many vertebrates. Once the plant is chopped up the cyanide gas is eliminated. Hardiness zone. 4a - 8b. |

Scottish heirloom leek was introduced in the 1830s near Edinburgh, Scotland with a delicious, sweet, subtle onion flavor. Very winter-hardy plants with blue-green white stalks 7-10" long and 1 1/2" in diameter. You can plant leeks as early as two weeks before your last-expected spring frost. Here in New York's Hudson Valley (zone 5-b), I plant leek seedlings between late April and mid-May. Maturity: 120 days. |
