(Lavender Arrowhead × Royal Celebration) Awards: AM 2011; HM 2008; HOS 2009 from archive.com Floyd Cove Nursery 2013 *BALI WATERCOLOR (Stamile, P.) TET 0144-G (Lavender Arrowhead X Royal Celebration) 35" MRe. fr. emo. ev. 9" x 1 3/8" x 7/8". 12" wing span. Spider ratio 4.2:1. Spider variant. 7-way branching. 35-40 buds. The first thing everyone comments on when they look at BALI WATERCOLOR is the beautiful colors: very Easter-like with lavenders, yellows and greens. Unfortunately the camera and film simply do not capture the colors. What looks like a silvery watermark with charcoal band in the garden looks faded and dirty in the slide. Nothing could be further from the truth. A true spider variant BALI WATERCOLOR shows beautiful Gauguin - like colors suggestive of his work in Tahiti. An intriguing flower BALI WATERCOLOR is the only flower I know of in the spider class with such an intricate pattern. This is the exciting beginning of intricate eyes, watermarks and patterns in the spiders. Easily fertile both ways |

BILL WALDROP 2023 Introduction 2024 price $175 from Floyd Cove Pierce G. 832-AB ((Max Factor x TRFK Sdlg) x Sdlg 6332) SEV EM re 34" high, 9.75" flower, 4-way branching, 27 buds, fragrant. Easily Fertile Both Ways. Wow!!! Our friend Bill found the parent of this beauty on it's very first bloom as a seedling. Bill must have spotted this huge fully green thing with a ruffled dark purple Picotee from 150 feet!. The only reason I did not introduce that one is the bud count was not to my liking. Next season I was fortunate to get 832 AB and so kept her to honor Bill Waldrop. This is just a one shot stock photo. It is marvelous! Triple thick and glowing. Thanks for your friendship Bill… One note, the seed pods are also huge. Like a Louisiana Iris. Makes outstanding kids. Bill Waldrop (Pierce-G., 2022) height 34 inches (86 cm), bloom 9.75 inches (24 cm), season EM, Rebloom, Semi-Evergreen, Tetraploid, Fragrant, 27 buds, 4 branches, Green with dark olive green heart, dark royal purple picotee on petals and sepals with silver knobs, thick, ribbed, veined petals.. (3 laterals + terminal "Y") 25-30 buds. Unusual form – crispate. Spider ratio 3.8:1. When I first looked upon BLACK HANDLEBARS it reminded me of the old silent movies where the villain, always dressed in black, twisted the ends of his mustache while vowing to commit some dastardly act. Hence the name for this very flat from the throat red black blend unusual form. What is special about BLACK HANDLEBARS is the large closure figure and large citron green throat. The tips of the sepals are quilled and twisted and the ends of the spatulate petals pinched and twisted. With its large full center this flower resembles a large green and black starfish and could easily have been called "Black Starfish". A real fun flower and fertile both ways. |

(((Blue Eden × Bridey Greeson) × Tet. Crystal Blue Persuasion) × Blue Dragon) from archive.org: petitdayliles.com Oct 2011 Blue Pearl {[(Blue Eden x Bridey Greeson) x (Tet. Crystal Blue Persuasion)] x [Blue Dragon]} Sev. 4.5 - 5" fl. 29" sc. M 20 buds. Good rust resistance. Fertile both ways. Like most hybridizers, I typically describe the eyezone of the "blue" lines as violet or blue violet. To my eye, the color in Blue Pearl varies from a deep blue as shown in this image early in season, softening to a light sky blue later in the season. It is no wonder that the color is so clear with Tet. Crystal Blue Persuasion in it twice and Tet. In The Navy once (Blue Dragon is Tet. CBP x Tet. ITN). The blue eye typically contains a pattern and is surrounded by a burgundy mascara band. The self color is lavender, and the ruffled petal edges are surrounded by a wire gold edge. Thanks to Jamie Gossard for the early use of Blue Dragon. |
