Noid Daylily |
Have Trade as plant Dormant Daylily Unusual Form / Spider Daylily NoID Daylilies |
Purchased as 'Sergeant Major' but is seemingly not the right color or size nor is it a spider. Pollen fertile w/seedlings out of this dormant [TX] tetraploid NoID x 'Desperado Love'. This NoID does not bloom every year and needs to be relocated from oak tree roots and shade. Relocated Oct 2022 to 145.2.1 bloomed May 2023 just in case: from archive.org trimmerdaylily.com 2016 (Dan Trimmer, 2004). Tetraploid ((Red Suspenders X Long Tall Sally) X Swirling Spider)) x Royal Celebration) 44" EM. Re. Sev. Each segment is 7" long with petals measuring 1 ¾" (4 x 1 ratio) on this exceptionally clear colored saturated dark, clear 12" candy apple red spider. I had to hold off introduction for a year to get stock to meet the demand generated from garden visitors. The Sergeant derives his name from my grandfather, Sergeant Major Daniel McLain Trimmer, so you know I like it! Tall (44") scapes are upright and erect. SERGEANT MAJOR has powerful pollen, but I have not been able to set on it. A good grower but modest increaser SERGEANT MAJOR is by far my best long petaled or spider to date. |

(sdlg × sdlg) from the hybridizer (2014** Polston) 5.5" Tet. on a 30" scape. "Armed sports 3-4 way branching and 15 - 18 buds per scape. (seedling. x seedling) Dormant re-blooms. Often it has a 'pillowing' effect on one or more petals. The picture says it all...this bright red flower with Cream/white shark teeth is a standout in the garden. Fertile both ways but a reluctant pod parent. (collection only) ** introduction year "Armed To The Teeth The term originated in Port Royal Jamaica in the 1600s when pirates were constantly looking for ships to loot and their guns were very primitive. As a result, pirates could shoot only once before a long reloading process. Consequently, they needed to carry a gun in each hand, and also perhaps in each pocket. For extra power, they would also hold a knife between their teeth. So to be 'armed to the teeth' means to carry the maximum number of weapons possible. |

From Debra's Daylilies 10 Apr 2024 going to Area 50 August Groom (Korth-P.-Korth-L., 2009) height 32 inches (81 cm), bloom 5.75 inches (15 cm), season EM, Dormant, Tetraploid, 25 buds, 2 branches, Burgundy with darker eye above green throat. ((Upon This Rock × Tet. Lavender Blue Baby) × (Janet Benz × Dark Temptation)) from archive.org: daylily.net/gardens/pinewood/index.htm `Nov 2010 August Groom August Groom ([Upon This Rock x Tet. Lavender Blue Baby] x [Janet Benz x Dark Temptation]) 32", 5.75", Dormant, EM, 25 buds with 2 way branching, fertile both ways. August Groom makes an elegant companion to August Bride and they are both excellent dormant daylilies that should grow well anywhere in the north. August Groom is a formal dark burgundy with darker eye that is an excellent contrast to the cream white of August Bride. August Groom combines good garden traits with being an easy to use parent both ways. The pollen parent was a dormant line bred Benz red and we have gotten nice red seedlings from August Groom |

(Sizzling Hot × Chicken on the Run) Awards: HM 2010 found on archive.org Daylilies Of The Valley year 2004 AUNT WIMP* (Bachman 03) 42" 6" M DOR Tetraploid. Named for a favorite aunt who nursed my mother when she was dying of cancer. The person and daylily are both of strong stock. AUNT WIMP is a garden standout with thick scapes branched 6 ways holding 26 buds. The color is peach with a fine ruffled gold edge and lighter raised midribs. The form is a bit wider petaled than my normal fare but due to her performance and extreme fertility both ways AUNT WIMP more than makes the grade. This year marks our first introductions out of CHICKEN ON THE RUN, this time paired with SIZZLING HOT. |

MI Zone 5b Porch South West bed has one fan with bizarre blooms: mutation? Pod fertility confirmed Display only until 2022 due to split SF in-ground TX 12/9/2020 area 3.3.2 FFO 6/23/23 late mid 1st year TX bloom [see picture] from archive.org: trimmerdaylily.com 2016 (Dan Trimmer, 1998). Tetraploid (CUSTARD CANDY x TET SILOAM TOM HOWARD) 22" EM Dor Fra. This fertile, compact extremely well branched small flower has 4 or 5 lateral branches, and 35 to 40 buds per scape. The 3 1/*" flowers are cream pink with plum eyes, and dark green throats. The carousel configurated blooms feature blunt rounded sepals and round petals, giving the overall effect of circular perfection in a small tetraploid. Foliage is broad and arched and the plants grow and increase well making rather large plants. BABY MOON CAFE exhibits plant superb habits similar to both of its parents, but I believe BABY MOON CAFE WILL perform better than either of its parents in the deep south based on its first year in Central Florida. Baby Moon Cafe' (Trimmer, 1998) height 22 inches (56 cm), bloom 3.12 inches (8 cm), season EM, Dormant, Tetraploid, Fragrant, 40 buds, 5 branches, Cream and plum with plum eye and green throat.
