Robins
Posted on Feb 12, 2022 9:39 AM

The Robins have returned in full force. They don't build nests or rear young in Florida, but they migrate just like all birds because of the cold and to eat fruit. I've seen 100's of them at a time on lawns eating worms and seeds.

It is already 63 and going to 76 today. I'll take it!

I had a busy morning. First, the extended walk with DH, then I mulched all my leaves with the lawnmower and spread them around the plants that needed them. Then I went up to my neighbor's house and raked the pebbles in her dog lot away from the fence and put 3 iron rods in the ground outside the fence because it was bowing out big time.

Yesterday afternoon I had a very inspiring talk with my neighbor's friend who is in remission from lung CA. She had a heart attack after her first Covid vaccine and was diagnosed with the lung CA 6 to 8 wks after that. They told her she was in stage 4 Lung CA and she thinks the vaccine brought on the πŸ’›attack and the CA, but I told her she probably already had the CA and the vaccine just brought it out. Her hair is growing back and she wears a pretty hat that makes her look French, but she is Cree Indian. She has good spirit and is determined to get her life on track and I'm proud of her strength and courage. God bless her!

Not much else happening around here, just waiting on spring. Hurry up spring! 😎😎😎😎😎

Beautiful Day
Posted on Feb 10, 2022 11:59 AM

DH and my new friend from Ontario joined me on my morning walk. It's so much more fun when you have people to talk to!

I did some more transplanting and cleaning up of the garden beds. Everything looks so dry, brown, and ugly except for hardy things like Azaleas and such. It won't be long though until it greens up.

Enclosing some photos of our house, patio garden, and the Bank and just for fun my two 3D chairs on the wall. I love those.
🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
Sinding you some of that!

Trimming the Fountain Grass
Posted on Feb 8, 2022 6:32 AM

Yesterday I trimmed the Fountain Grasses in our yard and my neighbors. While I was about it I went ahead and trimmed the Mexican Petunia, and Tradescantia. I pulled up all the remaining Kalanchoe and Vinca. I plucked up the Angel Trumpet from the other neighbor's garden and distributed the seeds. It is the white one and bloomed way into early winter. Hope it comes up where I planted it. Everything looks so much better. I hate looking at that frozen, dried up stuff in the garden. It's depressing to say the least.

Okay, we went to the house with the citrus, but she was not at home. Maybe I'll try again, maybe I won't.

We are having rain right now. Hurrah!

I have so many new Fountain Grass seedlings coming up. If they do well I will plant a whole row of them in the front yard. I also took cuttings of Red Tip Photinia's yesterday and I'm hoping they will take root because I would love to have more privacy outside our Lanai.

Hoping your day will include sunshine! 🌞🌞🌞🌞😎😎😎😎 Peace & Plenty!

Citrus
Posted on Feb 6, 2022 10:31 AM

I walked in reverse this morning and saw a whole new side of the last street. Wow! I saw 2 orange trees in the backyard of this one house and they are loaded down. That got me excited, but then when I walked on down past that house there was a tangerine tree on the other side of that house. Holy jumpin'! It too was loaded down. I plan on going by that house in the afternoons every day until I see someone and ask them if I can get Citrus. Now, the thing is the fruit may be sour, tart, and not edible. That is sometimes the case when people don't collect it, but I will find out and I can use the oranges to make dried orange slices for crafts. They look beautiful on wreaths. You have to slice them 1/8 inch and bake in the oven at 200 degrees for eight hours. It is so worth it though. You would not believe how pretty they look.

We have rain and it's so dark and cloudy. It's a stay in day for me except to take out the compost.

Peace & Plenty

ps I am pleased to say that those 2 Rosemary bushes that almost died from the bleach when the guy pressured washed our house last year have come back and are green and healthy again. It took some TLC.

Garden Clean-up
Posted on Feb 5, 2022 3:54 PM

I made a new friend on my morning walk. πŸ‘©πŸ» So that's one new friend from Ontario yesterday, and one new friend who lives in the neighborhood where I walk. Cool!

I did some work to help a neighbor this morning and then I came home and had every intention of staying inside and just relaxing. No, it didn't last. After lunch I went out to the garden and started cleaning up. All the bark mulch that I had put around some things got moved. Next the leaves that I mulched with the mower got moved. All of this good stuff went to the back end of the Bank where it can slowly compost and the Ox Eye Daisy will cover it over this summer and you won't even be able to see it. That stuff is thick as thieves and it makes such a good network of rooted growth that it's excellent for soil erosion control. I highly recommend it for that purpose, but be warned that you probably won't ever be able to get rid of it.

Next I grabbed the weeder and got all the weeds out of the garden and I stacked up some pavers around the patio garden to make it higher with the hope that the rabbits will go somewhere else. I would love to make a wattle fence and I may just do that this year.πŸ‡

I have a full yard waste can and will be able to fill it again after they pick up on Monday.

That row of Pink Baby's Breath that I planted for my neighbor is looking good. The rain we got last night was substantial enough that I didn't need to water it today. Bonus! πŸ‘

Peace and Plenty.πŸ™ˆπŸ™‰πŸ™Š
