I thought I would share some of the crosses that I am trying. They are,
Tets
Pod X Pollen
When the DW and I bought the house it came with palms and Indian Hawthorn shrubbery as the foundation landscape. I placed some of my potted daylily's in-between them to add some color. But, have since decided to relocate all the shrubs and redo the foundation planting with perennials. The Palms will remain as the DW loves them so. And, I suppose that I don't mind them so much either. They are growing on me. Shhh.... don’t tell her I said that!
Before...
After...
Bed cleared of all unwanted shrubs. Don't worry, I utilized them in another area of the landscape.
The potted daylily's were lined up like soldiers in the front of the bed again. I was waiting on an order from Santa Rosa Gardens to arrive.
Hurray, the order arrived and here are the plant tags.
Progress...
I moved the bird bath next to the corner of the porch and planted the Agastache 'Kudos Gold' in front. I also placed pottery pieces that were here and a drift wood find that I've had a few years now. Creeping thyme is planted in front of driftwood and pottery. Moonlight Magic Rose is also planted here.
Butterfly Bush, 'Black Knight' and 'Ivory' are along the front of the window with Phlox 'David' in-between them. I planted the Russian Sage and Lavender in front of those.
The daylily's are placed in a semi-circle fashion and will frame the Yarrow. You can see the Coneflower 'Sundown' to the left of the photo. Also in the corner is another creeping thyme pottery planting. And not shown in the bottom left corner of this photo, is Butterfly Bush 'Nanho Blu'.
Another note, the daylily's and all plants were arranged in the bed in a fashion so color echo's occur. I hope I was successful, and I cant wait for it all to mature and start blooming.
Below are some pictures of a memorial garden that our local Daylily club manages. Our little town is an old railroad town and this caboose you see is part of a museum. There is constant work ongoing with spent bloom removal and overall plant maintenance. It can be a handful in the growing season, but anyone with lots of these beautiful daylily's knows that already!
Wow, I just realized that I hadn't pushed the button on the blog post. So without further delay,
