Happy days continue! I tried this:

Roosterlorn said: I start with a shallow amount (about 1/4 inch or 6mm of premoistened. mix in a baggie laid horizontal on the kitchen counter top. With the baggie held open with one hand, I sprinkle seeds in with a baby spoon with the other hand. Then if I need to adjust the seed placement a little, I simply reverse the spoon and nudge the seeds into position with the spoon handle. I then proceed to cover the seeds with about another 1/4 inch or so of premoistened mix using a larger spoon. Using cardboard cut from a cereal box I lightly press this assembly level to remove the air and seal up the bag. I then slide another piece of cardboard under the baggie to transport it to where it's going to germinate, leaving the sealed baggie sandwiched between the two pieces of cardboard. In a couple days, I peek for moisture--just like I do for scales. In about 2 weeks, I start checking almost daily for sprouting. Once sprouted, I remove the top cardboard and let room daylight in at which time the will start start to bobby pin and begin to show green. Using this method I get good germination over a short, uniform time frame. In other words, generally speaking, all those that are going to sprout are going to sprout within a 5 or 6 day period as a group which happens to work out great. Because here's what I do next: On the very next day, I place the cardboard and baggie on a countertop, I slice open the sides of the baggie and open the top side up completely. Then with a large spatula slide gently under the mix, I gently slide the contents into a pot. It doesn't matter if these sprouts and mix gets upset a little--sprouts are very hardy at this point. Once in the pot, I sprinkle about 1/8 inch or 3mm of mix over the top, give it a heavy misting and in a couple days they're all up and growing like gangbusters.

And Lorn... it's working! :D

Well, don't know yet how uniform these babies will be, but some special seeds are hairpinning up now! They've taken four weeks to start... but now it must be time to start practising my spatula technique!
