Just dropping back in to say hello, enjoy the kitty & flower pics and your camaraderie, and offer a prayer of hope for Scarlet for your difficult time. May there be moments grace & angel bits to get you through. <3 I hope your Thanksgiving was a good one. Ours was lovely with cousins and family.
On the dahlia home front, I'm about 90% done digging dahlias from 4 garden spaces and 15% done on the path of dividing, packaging & setting them in their winter homes. Our venerable, still totally fun old '98 Mits Spyder will go to her winter storage spot, and I'll be putting all my dahlias in the garage this year. It's insulated, with a Govee temp gauge & heater. So far the temps range high 40s-low 50s. I think they'll be happiest there this year.
While digging,I had the happy accident of finding the name of a new, mystery deep burgundy dahlia this year: Fubuki Maroon or Dark Fubuki (listed as that here). I can't wait to grow it on in 2023. I love the lacinated tips on it. It is enchanting.
And wow, it's brisk out there these last two weeks in SE Michigan, but a pair of X-country ski pants over leggings makes a lot of difference, as does a cup of peppermint hot chocolate after.
The tubers are SUCH different shapes and sizes. Some small slender ones produce monster blooms (White Perfection) and monster tuber bowling ball ones produce moderate size, but amazingly beautiful blooms: Golden Heart, Noordwijks Glorie. So that adventure begins along with getting the Christmas decorations out and about.
Golden Heart
Noordwijks Glorie
And for fun, my late, great kitty, empress of the house before she went over the rainbow bridge, Sapphire:
Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all.
