Well, I don't have horses and no longer own a dog. But I sympathize.
Sadly I had the front pasture mowed before all of the wildflowers had a chance to go to seed. The grasses had gotten tall; with this heat wave, they had become a dangerous fire fuel - was concerned about a flipped cigarette or early bottle rocket, so it had to be done.
