I use the fermentation process. Cut open a tomato and use a spoon or knife to remove the pulpy seed masses into a plastic cup labeled with the name of the variety. Sit the cup outside in a shady place away from wind and cover it with a paper towel to keep bugs out. Also keep cup covered at night to protect it from stupid mice if they're a problem. Keep your eyes on the seeds daily. Usually 2-3 days depending on how hot it is. Make sure the pulp hasn't dried out. Once there's a layer of mold on top of the pulp and it smells really bad, add water and gently swirl. Good seeds will sink and bad ones will float. Skim off the mold and bad seeds. Strain the good seeds and rinse them well under the faucet. Use a utensil to scoop out the seeds and place them out on a paper plate or a clean coffee filter. Once they're dry, they're stuck together and they'll need separating. That's the part I hate.
Ban the GMO tomato!
