zuzu said:Are you finished, Dave? We still have the peculiar situation in which a Fuchsia called Angel Earrings Dainty (trade name) is not listed on the "A" page or the "D" page, but on the "S" page, where no one would ever look for it because no one knows the cultivar name is SUNicomf.
This morning I sent a new batch of code up that will fix this, hopefully once and for all. Here's how it now works:
There is now an internal field in the database called "Sort Name" and that field is what is used in almost all browsing situations. Anytime a plant's name is edited, the system in the background will check:
1) Is there a trade name present? If so, mark the Sort Name to be the same as the Trade Name.
Otherwise:
2) Is there a cultivar present? Take the top one and make it the Sort Name.
Then, whatever is the sort name is what is used to name the plant at the top of the page, as well as to find it when you are browsing by "cultivar".
Therefore, your plant example has:
Trade Name: Angel EarringsĀ® Dainty
Cultivar: SUNicomf
In this case, the "Sort Name" is Angel EarringsĀ® Dainty and this plant only shows up under A.
A different example is the rose 'Lady Mitchell' aka 'HARyearn'. This plant has no trade name, and the highest cultivar name is 'Lady Mitchell' so that's used as the Sort Name and this rose only appears under the letter L.
I'd like it if you'd go check it out and see if it's functioning the way you think is right.
