That's a good point. Is there a place where a plant will have more than one accepted name? If so, then yes, the system has no trouble with this. As the moderator, you just edit the plant name and put the one you prefer at the top. Easy Peasy.

No plant should have more than one accepted name, but the problem is still that different sources say different names are accepted. One source will say name A is accepted and B is a synonym while another source will say B is correct and A is the synonym.
