The rare or unusual does have its appeal, but that doesn't mean we should disparage what is common or abundant. Count me as another fan of these 'ditch lilies' (a term I hadn't seen before, but can appreciate as being apt for these lilies). They brighten drives through the local countryside this time of year. I see them a lot along railroad right-of-ways, which do tend to be ditches (
