I used to have wasps building nests in the crevices of my garbage bins, it was risky taking out the trash until I figured out where they were coming from. Get some peppermint oil and mix it with water in a spray bottle. I maybe use 3 eyedropperfuls in a normal sized spray bottle, and just spray that where they nest. I do it every spring now and on one section of my garage eaves and it stops them from nesting there. It also keeps the raccoons away from the garbage bins, they don't like the smell either.
