I think I've mentioned this before but found photos.
Back in the 1960's, my Grandmother took a big knife and sliced her prized cactus right down the middle and handed me half. I was horrified! Her beautiful plant! But thrilled at the same time. First photo, my half of the cactus in 1969, 4 years after the Big Split.
Fast forward to 198-something (its the blurry one in the back). Still living in the same pot. My non-repotting habits are nothing new.
I murdered it (and all the other cactus in the photo) a couple years later - new child, new house, new hardiness zone...
I have wanted another for all these years but I'm not quite sure what it is. It had dichotomy down - it was a splitting fool! Light golden spines and red flowers.
Any thoughts?
