Hi Maialaw,
Your
Split-Leaf Philodendron (Monstera deliciosa) - commonly called "Split Leaf Philodendron", "Ceriman", "Swiss Cheese Plant", etc. is really beautiful, so great growing!
The growth habit and the aerial roots on your plant is normal. In nature, Monstera crawl along the ground until they find a tree or other structure for those adventitious/aerial roots to cling to and climb. Many who grow them as indoor plants, put a moss pole in the pot for them to climb. As you probably realize by your already large plant, they can get really huge!
Many people like to repot into their own preferred potting media as soon as they bring a plant home. If you feel your plant needs a larger pot, be sure to use a good quality potting medium that allows for good aeration at root level and adequate drainage. We have a very knowledgeable member on this site who grows lots of plants in the Philodendron family and she recently posted about the perfect potting mix for Philodendrons and their relatives. You can read her post and see photos of the ingredients on this page:
