The first M. karwinskiana I bought suffered from too much cold last winter. It was damaged more than any of the other small barrels all growing under the same conditions. That surprised me. I wasn't sure how severe the damage was, so when I ran across another one in late winter, it came home with me. I was wanting another anyway because the first was exhibiting dichotomous growth which I'm finding an interesting trait. The new one had a well defined central growth point that was perfectly round. Not any longer. It's now oblong rather than round so it will probably have the same dichotomous growth. The first one now has two distinct eyes. The new one didn't bloom, but the older one bloomed profusely for a while. Hopefully, I'll manage to give them a bit more protection this coming winter and avoid further damage. Here they are today.
