Hello everyone. It is hot here and mostly dry. I don't know what your weather is like but if it is anything like it is here it is , well, July/August weather. And in AR that can be deadly. Remember the creatures that cannot go to the tap for a cool drink. Water is vital for the frogs, bees, dragonflys, birds and even some critters that are not my favorites. Put some saucers of water down for turtles and frogs. It evaporates quickly so fill it in the evening or early morning every day unless you have rain. Birdbaths have to be cleaned regularly and filled every morning. And you may be like me and have nocturnal creatures that empty the birdbaths overnight. Remember if you have a birdbath to locate it where it gets shade in the hottest part of the day. A metal bird bath must be in the shade or it will be useless..... too hot for the birds to land. If you can locate your bath under a tree or large shrub it will give the birds a place to land and work out 'pecking order' for access to the community bath. I have one situated where I can watch it in the mornings and evenings from the screened porch. They watch me while I watch them. They bathe, drink, fuss and play. They are as beautiful as the flowers and bring the garden to life. If your birdbath is deep without a shallow area near the rim put a flat stone in it for bees, butterflys and dragonflys to land on and get a drink. It does not take very long to make sure the birdbaths are clean and filled and is a great gift to our garden friends. For them I will say thank you!
Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing?
