If you have not watered it, I'd say it is probably OK to give it a good soak.

If the new growth happened while it was in your possession sun burn can be selective like that: the new growth is used to the sun exposure as it grew in it, while what presumably are older growth tips are probably still used to nursery conditions, so a change in sun exposure from nursery to your yard could cause them to get a little stressed. Especially if it got hot over the last week or so like in many other places.

If the burn does not get any worse the plant will probably recover just fine as the plant gets used to the conditions and starts growing. If you start seeing the yellow/brown go to white that is when it is real permanent damage.
