Daylilies & hardy hibiscus

It gives these two cultivars as examples - 'Jerusalem' and 'Satanic Majesty'


I think the first two sentences you quoted give the definition of a self. The third sentence gives the definition of a complete self.
Hardy hibiscus are a hobby, but daylilies are an obsession.
