Coffee Dye for paper and fabric

A large pan or bowl.
Dark Coffee
Vanilla
Cinnamon, Cloves, Ginger
Paper hang tags that are either handmade or purchased
Fabric, Muslin or white cotton.

Make a pot of coffee and pour it into the pan. Add a half cup of Vanilla, a quarter cup of the spices, with Cinnamon being the main spice to the bowl or pan. You can adjust the spices and vanilla to suit your needs. I used a dishpan to make my dyed fabrics and papers last year.

You will want to do this on a day when the sun is shining so you can hang your things up to dry. I spread mine on a wooden clothes drying rack or hung them on the hedgerow. If you want to use your dryer you can put everything in a pillow case in the dryer. I like to dye the fabric before I make the Primitive Ornaments. Oh, another thing that takes up the dye is new wooden clothespins. I dyed some to use on a memo board and they turned out great. The best thing I dyed was some cotton strings and I still have them in a plastic box in my trunk and they still smell so good.

If you are heavy into crafting and want to add a Primitive look to your things this works well and the smell is divine. You'll love it! Be sure to gather up all the stuff you want to dye before starting.

Different grades of paper take up the dye differently, so you may need to dip twice. I used a wooden spoon to stir the fabric around in the dye.

After you're finished drying your dyed articles you are ready to make the Primitive crafts and decorate your hang tags.
