Nothing very special. I started with store bought pineapple's crowns. I always root them in water. It easier for me because I can see the progress through the glass. When root are 2-3 inch long, I plant them in 6" pot and place them in a part shade for a week or so. Don't water till they get almost dry.

When they get too big for the pot, I replant them to 2gall pot and let them grow. All of my pineapples are under full sun. I don't water them every day. Fertilize like citrus with the citrus ton fertilizer, whatever I have. When they get too big for the 2gall pot I uppot them to a half barrel like plastic pot and they fruit next year. The soil I use is Miracle grow potting mix (prefer the yellow bag) plus perlite.
