i have central a/c and i can run a fan with or without it + open the window. It normally creates a good flow. But it's been still freezing at night, so a/c is not turned on full blast. So for a few hours in late afternoon it gets balmy - i actually love it too, since the other side of the apt is still chilly at 70F :).
we have special dual system for west/south facing units that get super hot quick.
my tropicals love the glow so to speak ;). it's Summertime suddenly.
The African Masks are on a heat mat to boot and shooting their 1st leaves of the season. That's how i wake them up ev spring (and sprout bulbils when i dig them up after repot).
