Mark the frozen pooling water doesn't damage your semps? When it thaws do you tip the containers to get rid of the standing water?
By the end of our recent 3-day mild spell above freezing, enough of the planter thawed and the water drained out. This planter is 15 years old and no winter damage thus far. For potted plants that I plunge into the ground to overwinter them, I tilt the pots to minimize "ponding"

Mark, thank you for the link to, a new to me nursery, Strongs Nursery. Any of you Arizona people know anything about them?
My memory is fuzzy after all these years, but I have some recollection of ordering from Strongs because I recognize so many varieties on their list as those I had bought and added to my semp collection. Sad to think through the years I lost so many plants; curses to having to work to make a living, unreasonable workloads, and not enough daylight for gardening because of a daily 4-hour roundtrip commute, merely 38 miles from the burbs to an office close to Boston, terrible traffic (ave. driving speed = 19 mph, eesh!). Feels so good to be retired.
I have looked at most varieties on Strong's Nursery list, checking them against the Semp Database data & photos, and feel confident they are selling correct materials. Nice bright & crisp photos of their plants on their web site. I do intend on ordering from them, will report back later in the season. There are two varieties I wasn't sure about, Magical and Skrocki, I've not grow either, maybe someone that has those varieties can comment.
PS: back in the deep freeze, sunny and 9F this morning, had tea on the deck when it reached 14F.
