Provide as much light as possible for the most compact growth. Like right by your sunniest window.

Since the stem is long and wandering, and since there are already babies growing from the base in the pot, you could try removing the long stem entirely and converting it to a short stemmed cutting to start a new plant. Cut it at the base and then make another cut an inch or so below the bottom of the rosette. Allow the cut end to heal for a week or so and then plant it in fresh soil, being sure to wait a few days more (minimum) before watering.

It's probably best to wait until spring before attempting any project like that, just so that there is good light available to aid the recovery. There is no rush at this point, and it's a good idea to think through any intervention before executing.

What you would end up with if you do cut off the main stem is two plants, effectively. The babies in the original pot left to grow out on their own can serve as a sort of backup should the restart of the main stem prove unsuccessful for whatever reason. But once the main stem is properly rooted and growing, you can safely dispose of the rest if you like. If you are careful to wait before watering, your chances of success are very high.

Good luck!

Welcome!
