I can answer part of your question, Lin. There's a difference between a series and a trade series. If the series name is not followed by a trademark symbol, it may be listed as a series, but the rest of the name (Yellow, White, etc.) is not listed as a trade name. The whole thing (Swan Yellow) is treated simply as a cultivar name.
