Hi Marilyn-
No, that picture is less than 15 miles from my home in rural Miami County. We are a farming community with lots of farm land and trees scattered here and there. That avatar photo is on the Mississinewa River a tributary of the fabled Wabash which is even closer to my home. We are rich in native American history here and still have the descendants of the Miami Nation of Indians headquartered here in Peru, Indiana (about 15 miles from my home). My wife's grandfather (on her Mom's side) was a part of that tribe several generations descended. I had written a blog post about him once, but deleted it later for lack of interest. I personally, am from northern Indiana, Lagrange County where there is one of the largest Amish communities in the state.

I am attaching another photo on the same river as in the Avatar at a spot near to the Wabash River where the two meet. It is by some accounts a sacred spot where the Miami Nation gathered in the 1700-1800's for tribal councils. Also there is a link to the Miami Indian website that might interest you. (By the way part of this tribe came from the Miami, Ohio area too. http://www.ohiohistorycentral....

Our group here is not federally recognized by the U.S. Government, but the Oklahoma one is. (Personal thought: "I strongly feel the US government cheated many native Americans out of their land and homes.") Miami County, Indiana: http://www.miamiindians.org/

Well I've put my foot into a very interesting subject, and I do not have all the answers, but I do have compassion for these people. Sorry to have strayed off the subject of pictures. *Blush*

This is the site of the Indian councils so long ago.
It is relatively untouched.
