Daphne, in response to your questions
"and i have questions.....do arils take up less room than tb's? will they withstand foggy conditons during the summer months? (i live about a mile from the ocean & we sometimes we have damp foggy eves and morns from april thru july)"
I never really thought about it much before, but I would say that arils do tend to be more compact in their growth habits than TBs. The ones that have less aril in them tend to be more like TBs.
I only live a couple of miles from the south end of San Francisco bay. That said, the summer months are fairly dry. But April thru June can have fog and dew. Arils are fairly water tolerant. Again, the less aril in the cross, the more water tolerant.
I would think that your micro-climate and mine are pretty similar. Give them a try. I can send you some to try when I dig them this summer. If they don't make it, you won't be out a lot of money. Let me know.
