Very nice banner, Karen! Thumbs up

Aka Desert Rose.....one of my favorite plants, but is also THE most challenging, at least for me. I had a large one that
got sunburned and rotted in spite of desperate measures to rescue it.

Still have one that I am very careful with.....very little water till spring, and brought it into the living room
when the nighttime temp dropped below 65F.

How long have you had yours?

Thanks, Cal. That one is now 15 years old. It has had a rough life too. In Arizona I accidentally left it out too late in the Fall, and it froze. I had to cut back a lot of it. Then I also sunburned it by moving it into full sun too quickly. It's been uprooted and trimmed back many times but now I'm trying to just let it alone. It's inside right now, losing it's leaves and not being watered.Mealy bugs were a big battle this last summer. It had to be treated constantly.

Those are very nice specimens, especially the one in the blue pot.....very lush foliage & large gnarly caudex. Smiling
What kind of soil mix? Have you tried making cuttings when you trim it?

Whatever you're doing, it's working very well. Thumbs up

It's the same one when it was in a different pot, Cal. I have rooted trimmings but they aren't appealing to me since they don't form the caudex. It would be fine if all you want is the flowers. The cuttings root easily. I just use a standard gritty cactus mix and add a lot of pumice or perlite. I water a lot, so I need it very fast draining.

Karen... just spotted the beauty in the banner is one of yours. This is a plant I would love to have again. Planning on ordering a couple and learning more about them.

The pop of pink is really wonderful. Another fine job, Karen. I tip my hat to you. I really like it as it calls to mind the pink candle of joy, an Advent thing in my tradition for the third Sunday of Advent. Hard to believe we're almost there.
