I just stumbled across this, and I don't think this is the "Queen's poppy" variety of Papaver somniferum.

The "Queen's poppy" variety is a soft orange-coral color with a white Maltese cross in the center. I grow them, and they are definitely not this rich, solid, pink. You can also see just under the sepals in this picture, a dark purple color. The "Queen's poppy" does not have this (it is pure white).

This website has some more examples: https://davesgarden.com/guides... (However, even one of those is also mis-identified.)

I think a lot of the confusion may come because the darker colored "Danish flag" varieties (fringed or unfringed) are sometimes called "Danish Queen's Poppy." So they get sold, grown, and photographed as "Queen's poppy," and they are also more prone to have solid-colored blooms from what I've seen.
Keep going!

Just found this vendor which also has a good depiction and photograph: https://www.onestoppoppyshoppe...

That may be where I originally got my seeds, but I don't remember.

You are probably right about the poppy. I also order from Onestoppoppyshop and over the years the poppies just come up where they please.
Thanks for your reminder.

No worries, I actually keep a small green mesh bag over 2-3 of my Queen's poppies each year because I like preserving them without cross-contamination. Their bloom time seems so short compared to other varieties though. I wish they were more popular but I understand why people would gravitate more towards the peony-flowered types and the types with brighter, richer-colored petals.
