Rounded trees are the mature oaks, while the tall and slenders are juveniles. Put all their energy into sending down a tap root to water table before they start shaping up.
Had taken this photograph on a bitterly cold mid-June morning while awaiting a sunrise. Standing on an elevated viewing platform, I've cropped out all the people standing on a lower platform. Some visitors can be seen walking amongst the Desert Oaks.
Most mornings at this site there will numerous tour buses lined up and people waiting to witness sunrise over Uluru, previously known as Ayers Rock.
