Sandy, My Hot Banana peppers were some "Bonnie" plants from Home Depot, most likely hybrids of some sort. My Jalapeno peppers did very well all summer producing right through all the wet weather. I did pickle some of them, and they turned out really great. I have a lot of them out there too that need to be picked. I haven't tried pickling the hot banana's, but bet they would be good too. I got three different types of bell peppers, one variety did great the other two, not so much. I'm going to have to check out the tag on the good ones and try them again. Nice large thick walled peppers. It's a good thing that it hasn't frozen here yet, or I would not have gotten many Pablanos.

OK, I just and I do mean just, pulled three of my last four chiles.
The Burning Bush had more green fruit now than all summer.
The Hungarian Hot Wax was the one of the few hot chiles that did fairly good all summer and had a half-dozen, some ripe on it.
The last one had the tag that , I put the plastic label tag in the ground by the plant when I put it in the ground, said Cajun Belle but they look like Jalapenos.
I left the one bell out there but may pull it tonight as there is only one more night before continual freezing temps. at night and then I can combine the tomatoes I picked Friday with these chiles and make one last batch of fresh Chilli.

End of the season for my peppers, too -- rainy and windy today so I didn't go out in the garden, but tomorrow I plan to pick whatever peppers are still there (probably quite a few, since I didn't make as much salsa as I normally do). I'll freeze some, maybe pickle some, and will dry some of the small hot ones (Super Chili and Serrano) to make crushed red pepper and "cayenne" pepper. Jalapenos will get frozen as halves, to make baked "poppers" during the winter.

Rainy, windy and freezing? I'm sooooooooo envious. It's 103 here with hot, dry winds. I'm counting the nano seconds until cool to cold weather!

It's 32 here this morning, but may drop a few degrees before sunrise, then we have a whole week of cold and wet weather ahead. Slight chance of snow on Sunday. D'Oh! I picked everything out of the garden yesterday. One last zucchini, 2 watermelon, a pail full of peppers, and some tomatoes. It has been a nice late fall here mostly.

We had 32 this morning too -- but the sun is out so I'm going to take advantage of it to get as much done outdoors as I can today; mostly cloudy and rainy for the next 5 or 6 days, and all the upcoming lows are in the 30s and the highs are in the 40s. And somehow I'm thinking that things will get worse before they get better... Rolling my eyes.

97 degrees here today, down from 100 degrees yesterday. This is the craziest October ever.

Send about 25 degrees of that this way, and we'll all be happier. Hilarious!

Well here it was a warmer October but when I see the record highs are mostly in the 80s I am glad it was only a slightly warmer October.

Nasty when you go from high 70s and 80s down to 20s and 30s so I am ready for the cold though I do still go out barefoot as the ground is still warm but after tomorrow that probably is all over.
I just hope and pray it is not a warmer than average winter.

La Nina should make it colder than usual for you, warmer than usual for me. She's fickle that way.
