There are a lot of burgundy, plums, or wine reds but the only true red I have ever seen is Rebecca. There may be others but I have never come across them online or in person.

I'm not a big clem expert, but the truest red I've seen myself has to be Rebecca. Keep in mind that even she is often more burgundy than true red, though.

Amazindirt, I see you are in TN. Do you buy locally or online? I am just north of Clarksville, TN.

Both! I live east of Lebanon -- not a lot of big nurseries around here. OTOH, both HD and Lowes have started carrying a lot more clems lately (and bigger plants -- I remember when all they'd sell would be the tiny starter plants!), so there's been a lot more local selection the last coupla years.

This year I've bought clems from Bluestone and from Donahue's, and I'll probably get at least one or two from the big box stores before the year is out. I'm too cheap to buy the big gallons from the high-class online clem sellers like Brushwood or Klehm's!

I'm glad that we too have plenty of local nurseries to buy them from!

So many beautiful clematis! Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

So far this year (all in England) we have seen

Wesselton bloomed late March/early April, Avalanche started a couple of weeks ago (photo taken today), Amber about a week ago, but has yet to reach full bloom.
Lots of others are laden with buds, so I'm excited to see what blooms next.

Rebecca here opens very red but quickly turns to a pinkish burgundy.

Wow, three beauties Mika! Never heard Wesselton or Amber, love that bloom shape too.

Arabella, it's at the base of a climbing rose.

If you mean the clematis in my first and third photos, Teresa, I usually just call them 'macropetala-type' flowers; I don't know if they have a specific botanic name. The four outer, slightly darker, lance-shaped petals contain the many petal-like stamens, which gives the 'double' look. Easy to grow - fully hardy, any aspect.

According to Wiki, clematis are within the buttercup family - I had no idea!

I moved this Odoriba last year so it is just getting going. Maybe I will have to move it again to a sunnier area
