I do wear an old pair of sneakers when on the riding mower but I have to admit there was a time when I mowed barefoot too, I just got yelled at so much that I finally relented and put the old sneakers on when it was mowing time. I have to have shoes when digging with the shovel but usually the only time I wear shoes is when I'm getting in the car to go somewhere! I have a pair or two of those "Crocs" shoes that I (sometimes) wear when working in the yard, but usually after about five minutes I kick them into the pool and I remain barefoot. My neighbor always shakes her head and says she doesn't know how I can walk around shoeless all the time. I've stepped on fire ant mounds (we had a terrible problem with them last year and the sting is awful.) I stepped barefoot on a snake once too, but I still go shoeless inside and out ... there's a scrub brush and a bar of the gardener's soap in the bathtub too!
Back in the days when I had a desk job I wore heels ) to work and would always kick them off under the desk. Most of the time when I got up to run paperwork to someone else's office I never bothered to put my shoes on. If I had to go to one of the other office buildings in the complex I'd reluctantly put my shoes back on but there was one incidence where I walked across the parking lot in my stockings and tore them up, LOL. I had sneakers at work for awhile when I would walk on my lunch break ... I guess I thought it would look kinda funny strolling the complex in a business suit and barefoot!
