I went looking for an Anticipation thread that I thought we had and I could not find it. Maybe I needed to go further back?
Any way, at the MOS meeting in early April, I picked up a Brassidium hybrid. A member was selling off like 30 plants while our speaker had plants for sale too. But frankly, I would have liked to have purchased something from him but he was a Maxillaria and it's relatives guy and at $35-45 dollars a plant. I was looking for something cheaper to KILL. Maxillarias and I have not been on good speaking terms for over 30 years!! Rolling on the floor laughing D'Oh!
Anyway our member had plants generally between $12 and $20. Seemed a bit more reasonable. So I bought a Brsdm. Golden Gamine 'White Knight'. I think it is a mericlone since it looked familiar on the web when I got home.
To make a short story longer, the silly thing is in spike!! Oh my goodness. A single spike from each of 2 bulbs! 😎
The flowers are maybe 2-1/2" wide by 3+" tall. Ivory white background color, deep chocolate baring, starry shaped, 4-6 per inflorescence. Lip some what narrow, ivory with bright red markings with a yellow crest that is spotted red as well.
Now to be honest, I can NOT take credit for blooming it. I know I give out a good deal of information about Oncidium Alliance culture even though my experience is limited. I used a blend of 20% medium bark, 10% fine charcoal, 10% fine perlite and 60% fine bark. I am watering every five days in a 5" pot. Now all that remains is to post images. When? Probably in 3-4 weeks is my guess.

Yay Hurray! Anticipation is half the fun!

My gigantic plant of Den. Hilo Sparkle 'Exotic Orchids' has two big fat new growths. The plant is already 9ft tall so I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it if it gets any taller.

Starting up several new spikes of flower buds, too. These last for months! (sorry, bad picture but I just can't easily move the plant to get it away from everybody else)
