I'm having a huge problem with recent humidity.
Cannot waste all this potting soil.
What are some good resources and methods.
I'm sure baking it is an option, but no details.
And yes, cinnamon, DE.
What else we got?
Thanks!

I doubt cinnamon and DE would have any affect on soil pathogens or bug eggs in the soil.

To pasteurize soil, it must be heated to 82c for 30 minutes. Most people do this by finding the biggest oven proof container you have (like a roasting pan) and filling it with moist soil. Add a meat thermometer and bake. when the internal temperature reaches 82c, maintain the heat for 30 minutes then remove and let it cool. If you let the temperature go above 100c, you have destroyed all the soil microbes. Don't do that.

The biggest problem is the smell. I personally don't mind it but I don't do it when Hubby is home. Don't forget to air out the oven before you cook any food in it.

You will also have to sterilize your containers. Do that by scrubbing them out then soaking them in a bucket of 10% bleach water (1 part bleach, 9 parts water) for 30 minutes. Rinse well and let them dry.

Lucy's advice is sound. However, I'm curious: what larvae and pathogens are you concerned about? Were your previous potted plants diseased or infested? What did you grow previously and what do you intend to plant now?

How does the humidity affect your potting soil?

I agree
What issues are you having?

One "non-house" stinkyness idea I've tried is using an outdoor grill, with thermometer, using disposable aluminum pans you might use for a roast or turkey- but if you have a lot- I don't see heating as a real option.
I only 'pasteurize' on rare occasions- I.E. seed starting mix when sprouting EXPENSIVE seed.
I often saturate my seed flat soil with boiling water, let cool, then plant.
Again- I'm trying to avoid dampening off fungus and fungus gnats- not achieve total sterilization.
