Gone Viral is really lovely. It is on my wish list at Mid-America.

You'll like it, Andrea. If I had enough of it to share it, I definitely would. But this one is already in danger of bloom-out, so I have to baby it.

That's OK, Daisy. I didn't order any irises last year, so I am going to splurge at Mid-America this year!

Gone Viral

I really like Gone Viral after seeing it bloom for the first time this year in my garden.

The first morning that it opens, the fall color is such a fluorescent dark blue that its almost shocking. I don't think I have ever seen quite such a color in any iris.

This has not been a good iris season here. So far this iris season it has been cold and rainy every day except a couple. It's so bad that bloom buds are rotting. The folowing photos are from two or three days ago, and now again today.

Not nice when the weather is wet during bloom season. Your blooms still look good though.
I've had several show up that I thought I had culled. Now I have to mark them and cull them again.

Everyone, I still have irises blooming, but no new cultivars starting. So it looks like my season is ending. It is such a disappointment that so many flower buds rotted. I have never seen so much rain before in May.

So sorry to hear that, Daisy. The only time I've lost buds to weather has been when the irises tried blooming in the winter (near-freezing cold, rain).

Marilyn, we had about a month of rainy/misty days with only two or three days without rain. I have never seen the like before, even though we usually get much more rain than does your area.
