Great choice, Mike! 👍 I've ordered Pop Art in my first order with them. I couldn't resist this sale and ended up ordering 10(!) more roses, knowing I can't plant them all in the ground. Sounds a bit crazy, doesn't it? 😊 Can't wait for my RU order to arrive tomorrow!

First bud on Crepuscule, a couple more weeks and it will explode into full bloom. Spring is here!

Got my RU roses! 🎉 All but one came with buds, and two even have flowers already! Unpacking them only took me 30 minutes! The instructions below are for planting them in the ground, but I'm planning to let them grow in 3-gallon pots for the summer. I've had some issues with Heirloom roses planted directly in the ground before, so I'm hoping pots will work better. Any suggestions for adjusting the planting mix for containers? Thanks, as always!

I think somewhere I think somewhere We posted a mix many of us have used. I make my own with compost Composted manure Peat moss Perlite And pine bark fines.
It works really well for 1 season and then I have to fertilize with a dilute liquid fertilizer after that. Generally I just use this to grow up small cuttings and Plants such as yours until they go in the ground.

Elena, I always pot up my bands and gallons in larger pots for awhile. Way back in the day, I used to make my own potting soil, but now I buy a good brand and often add extra perlite. The ones I buy are from E.B. Stone, which I believe is a west coast company, so wouldn't help you in Ohio!
BTW, I love RU, but I hate unpacking their boxes!

Those huge staples! I always enjoyed buying roses from RU, but I didn't enjoy having to use a big screwdriver and pliers to remove the staples.

Thank you ladies, I am only confused what fertilizers I supposed to add not to burn young plants roots.

I never add anything beyond what's already in the potting soil.

Elena, when you asked "Any suggestions for adjusting the planting mix for containers?", we all assumed you were asking about the planting mix, not what fertilizer to add.

Susan, I have used potting mix with no granular fertilizer and added only mycorrhizae.

My mysteries are all Austin's I have. They are extremely slow and not vigorous at all. This season bought 5 more, if they would not work for me I officially give up.

Vaporvac, those two trees spent some time in garage and they moved back and force during cold days in early Spring, so cheated a little bit. Smiling
Roses from RU are all planted in containers:
Paul Bocuse
Versigny
Etrusca
Stile' 800
Sonia Rykiel
Dames de Chenonceau

Beautiful blooms! I love that Helen Hayes. I'm a little late but thought I would wish everyone a happy Earth Day.. Maybe we can celebrate earth month instead with an earth song! 😉😊
