Beautiful! It has been over 20 yrs since I sniffed a lilac. Wish this banner was scratch'n'sniff!

Tiffany, my neighbor pulled out everything 2 summers ago when they moved in, including a very old and huge lilac that hung over the fence, and I miss it so much I'm trying to figure out where I can fit one in my yard. I sometimes would just stand under it and inhale, especially during light rains. I'm thinking of getting one of the dwarf varieties, Bloomerang Dwarf Dark Purple, and just putting it along the opposite fence. If it's really 3'x3', it should fit fine.

I hope you find something that can work for you. The lilac we had was a tree.

It was the most common lilac you see everywhere, with the pale lilac color. I tend to call anything that can be pruned down to the ground without hurting it a bush. Hilarious! But it certainly was big enough to be considered a tree.

And looking at it full grown, I'm not certain I'd be happy at all with a dwarf of it. I'd get the lilac scent but that's about it.

Nice! While it lasted. I don't know much about them except that the tree was pretty carefree while we lived there and when it bloomed every spring, it was very exciting. I would put vases of it all around the house. Some flowers sour as they age, even lovely Gardenias, but I don't remember that about lilacs.
