Good enough...

Crabapples - good enough (for birds) to eat.

I'm surprised that many are left on the branches that the birds haven't eaten them all yet. Here berries never last for long. Beautiful banner, Elizabeth.

The source image just shows more of the same,

For the record, it was taken in early November a few years back. They hadn't all ripened fully by that point (some still yellow, and the leaves still hanging on). @Murky wrote about her crabapples not lasting long before the birds consumed them, but my own experience has been a little different. I've known whole trees full of them to persist well into the winter months. I can think of a couple of explanations for the difference, but it would be mere speculation.

So decorative! Yes, I've seen a lot of crab apple persist through winter too. Maybe some varieties are less appealing to birds?
