The annual sight of bright yellow goldenrod and purple asters growing intermingled always signals fall's arrival where I live. These are New York asters. I'm not sure of the goldenrod species...there are so many.

It reminds me of how I miss the combo of goldenrod, joe pye, and ironweed that was so prevalent on the roadsides in OH. There is plenty of goldenrod here in AL but I don't notice any joe pye or ironweed.
